Pete Schuermann began making movies at 19, beginning with the feature/parody Hick Trek: The Moovie, which was released to home video in 1999.
In 2005, Walt Disney Studios and Buena Vista Home Entertainment tapped Pete to co-direct and edit Disneyland: Then, Now and Forever, a docu-tainment retrospective piece celebrating Disneyland’s 50th anniversary.
Working with The Gordie Foundation in 2008, Schuermann directed "HAZE: The Documentary", about the story of 18-year-old Gordie Bailey who died on September 17, 2004, following a hazing incident involving alcohol in the Chi Psi fraternityhouse at the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, CO.
HAZE was an Official Selection at Hamptons Film Festival and Newport International Film Festival in 2008, and at Newport Beach Film Festival, AFI Dallas International Film Festival and Bend Film Festival in 2009.
The documentary also won the Director's Choice Award for Film/Editing at the Indie Spirit Film Festival in 2009.[1]
Today, the film is used as a part of high school and college campus education programs on the dangers of binge drinking.[2][3]
Schuermann announced in December 2009 that his new feature-length documentary project about the sci-fi b-movie The Creeping Terror has received funding and begins shooting in early 2010.[4]
